NOTD - Russian Navy

Today I'm wearing Russian Navy by OPI. This is not a new color, but it's one that I had been wanting. So I put it on my Christmas list & the hubby came through! This color is really unique. In the bottle it looks purple, but once it's on the nails, it is navy. I really love this color, it's perfect for the Fall & Winter.

I apologize for these pictures, they did not turn out that great in my opinion. If you google this, or any color I've mentioned, you can see other swatches. I do this a lot!

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eyeshadows

There have been a lot of great products released in the drugstore lately & I have bought quite a few of them! So I thought it would be fun to show you what I've purchased & give my thoughts on them. I'll be breaking this down into a series of posts. And keep in mind that I've picked these up over the past few months. Some things I got back in November. I also got a lot of these products on sale. So with that being said, let's get started!

Today I will be showing you the new Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 Hour Eyeshadow. I have four shades, but there are ten total. These are cream shadows that claim to last 24 hours. I'm not sure if they last that long, but I have found them to be very long-wearing. When I first swatched them on my hand, I had to use makeup remover to get it off. Once these set, they stay put. I also have no problem with creasing with these shadows. I have worn them alone, but they are also great for layering. I have heard that these are dupes for the Mac Paint Pots. I've never used a paint pot myself, so when I heard that I knew I wanted to try these. As you can see I picked neutral shades. They also have some bold colors, for those brave enough to wear them! I actually wouldn't mind picking up the teal color to use as a liner or to add a pop of color to my look.

OK, lets move on to the colors!

Clockwise, from top left: Too Cool (shimmery white), Bold Gold (shimmery gold), Tough As Taupe (matte grey/taupe), Bad to the Bronze (shimmery bronze)

Too Cool

Bold Gold

Bad to the Bronze

Tough as Taupe

From left: Tough as Taupe, Bad to the Bronze, Bold Gold, Too Cool

I have to say I really like these eyeshadows. My favorite is probably Bad to the Bronze. And the gold will be great for summer looks. These retail for $6.99, but you may find a cheaper price or get a good deal if they are on sale. I have seen these at Target, Walmart & all the local drugstores.

Have any of you tried these? What are your thoughts?

NOTD - Gray Suede & Big Money

Good morning! Today I'm wearing Revlon Gray Suede with Sally Hansen Gem Crush in Big Money. Gray Suede is a beautiful neutral color. It has the slightest hint of shimmer which I think is really pretty. I'm not sure why it's called Gray Suede, but I really love this color. Then as an accent I added Big Money. It is a gorgeous champagne colored glitter with tiny purple glitter. I love this glitter! I think it will look great over lots of colors. Today I'm going to my sister in law's baby shower! So I wanted something soft, not too bold. I think the glitter adds some sparkle, but it's not in-your-face. I really love this manicure!

NOTD - Blue Streak

Today I'm showing you Blue Streak by Ulta. Monday night I painted my nails while watching The Bachelor. Yes, I watch that show & I love it! And I'm kind of glad Jenna is gone. OK, back to the nail polish. After it was on, I wasn't too excited about it. I don't know if it's the wrong time of year for this type of color or it's not suited for my skin tone, but I was just not feeling it! So I took it off last night. But I wanted to show you anyway. I think this is the first polish I've shared that I haven't been too thrilled about. Maybe I'll feel differently in the summer. Now I have to decide what to paint next! Decisions, decisions!

Happy New Year!

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a nice holiday. I took a little break the week after Christmas. It felt so good to relax & not have anything to do! I tried on a new nail polish that my husband got me for Christmas. I asked for Russian Navy by OPI. I forgot to take pictures though. Don't worry, I'm sure I'll be wearing it again soon!

For New Years we spent the weekend with my husband's family. My MIL took the girls out for manicures, which was a nice treat! I wanted something sparkly & festive for New Years Eve. So I picked Essie Smokin' Hot with a glitter accent. I think the silver glitter was Set in Stones from the Essie Luxeffects collection.

I'm so excited for the new year & for all the new collections that are coming out. There is some great drugstore makeup out now, so I'll be posting on some of those products soon. And of course Spring nail polish collections should be hitting stores February/March. Thanks to all of you who have been reading my blog & those who have left comments! My blog is still young, but I've had a great time with it & I appreciate all the readers who have come my way. I'm looking forward to a beautiful & polished 2012!
